Three people have been arrested in Tórshavn on suspicion of smuggling at least five kilograms of cocaine into the Faroe Islands and selling most of it, public broadcaster KVF reports.
Police detained two men, aged 22 and 23, and a 19-year-old woman on Thursday. Prosecutors allege the group smuggled the drugs between September last year and April 16, 2026, working together and with associates in Denmark and possibly the Faroe Islands. Authorities have recovered 666 grams of cocaine and confirm 4,437 grams were sold locally—the largest single seizure in a Faroese police investigation to date.
Chief prosecutor Katrin Thorsvig Hansen requested pretrial detention for all three suspects during their initial court hearing. The court granted the detention order and issued a gag order barring the release of their names. Defense attorneys Óla Jákup Kristoffersen, Jens Andrias Vinther, and Jógvan Elias Winther Poulsen represent the accused.
The case remains under investigation.
