The Faroese government will not introduce a new labour policy but will instead implement targeted measures to improve working conditions, labour minister Jacob Vestergaard confirmed in a written response to parliament on Friday.

Vestergaard’s statement came in reply to a formal inquiry from MP Fía Selma Nielsen, who had questioned the current direction of labour policy during a parliamentary session. The minister asserted that the existing framework, established in 2005 and rooted in a 1999 policy foundation, remains valid and responsive to global challenges and opportunities.

“Labour policy and legislation over the past 20 years show we have adapted—and continue to adapt—to changing circumstances, modifying what needs to be changed,” Vestergaard wrote in his response, published by Faroese broadcaster KVF.
