Pilot whale pod sighted near Æðuvík as Eysturoy grants protection during Ólavsøka celebrations

At approximately 11:45 AM today, it was reported that a pilot whale pod was sighted off the coast near Æðuvík.

However, the district commissioner in Eysturoy decided to grant them protection. This decision was made partly because local residents already have plenty of whale meat and also due to the ongoing Ólavsøka celebrations.
