Israel to seize 70% of Gaza territory, Netanyahu announces

Israel will take control of 70% of Gaza’s territory, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared at a press conference on Friday, according to Danish broadcaster DR.

Netanyahu stated Israel was tightening its grip on Hamas, despite a ceasefire agreement reached with the group in October. Since the truce began, nearly 900 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes, according to health authorities under Hamas control, which do not distinguish between civilian and militant casualties. Four Israeli soldiers have died during the same period.
