Around 50 Romanian and Italian construction workers have blocked two entrances to the New OUH hospital construction site in Odense for a third consecutive day, demanding unpaid wages for April and May, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

The workers, employed by the now-bankrupt firm Techno Build, are refusing to leave until their wages are settled. “We are staying until we get our money,” said Ionut Cimpuesu, a Romanian spokesperson for the group.

Protests escalated after a Thursday meeting with the main contractor, OHPT (Odense Hospital Project Team), failed to resolve demands for half their owed pay within days and job security. “We no longer trust OHPT,” Cimpuesu said, calling for state intervention.

OHPT confirmed it is working with the bankruptcy administrator to verify outstanding invoices and secure payment. “The process does not allow us to pay the workers directly,” a spokesperson said, adding that funds for April and May wages would be released once the final amount is agreed.

The workers have vowed to maintain the blockade until their claims are met.
