Wage negotiations between the Faroese Health Workers’ Union and the Municipal Employers’ Association collapsed Thursday after both sides rejected a mediator’s proposal, Faroese broadcaster KVF reports.
The union dismissed the offer as insufficient compared to public-sector wage agreements, while the employers’ association argued the proposal was too costly for municipalities.
Mary Antonsdóttir, chair of the Health Workers’ Union, stated the dispute extends beyond pay to working conditions and should not be resolved through wage arbitration. Per Martin Gregersen, chair of the Municipal Employers’ Association, countered that cost-related issues could be addressed in arbitration.
