Man arrested on probable cause in Seinäjoki homicide investigation
A 35-year-old man suspected of murder and attempted manslaughter in last Sunday’s fatal attack in Seinäjoki’s Kasperi district has been remanded in custody, the South Ostrobothnia District Court ruled Thursday.
Prosecutors must file formal charges by September 25. Lead investigator Juha Nappari, a detective chief inspector, confirmed the case remains under active investigation but stated authorities have “a fairly clear picture of events,” which unfolded inside a private residence.
The charge was elevated to murder on Wednesday after evidence suggested the suspect acted with premeditation and employed “brutal and cruel” violence. Police responded to an emergency call Sunday evening at an apartment building in Kasperi, where they found one man critically injured outside and another deceased inside the unit. The 35-year-old suspect was apprehended the same day.
