A 31-year-old man has died following injuries sustained in a grenade explosion on Amager in Copenhagen, Danish public broadcaster DR reports.

The victim, who was struck by a hand grenade thrown into a courtyard where he was present, died late Wednesday evening, according to a police statement. Authorities believe the attack was a case of mistaken identity linked to ongoing gang conflicts.

Four individuals—two men aged 19 and 20, and two women aged 22 and 26—have been remanded in custody in connection with the incident. The men face charges of attempted murder, while the women are accused of supplying the grenade. All four deny the charges, but a judge ordered their detention pending further investigation.

Police have indicated that additional unidentified suspects remain at large.

The victim is the second civilian injured in gang-related violence this week. Last Sunday, a 68-year-old woman suffered severe burns in an arson attack in Ikast and was airlifted to Rigshospitalet in critical condition.
