Seinäjoki apartment killing now investigated as murder, suspect faces pretrial detention
A fatal attack in the Kasperi district of Seinäjoki, initially classified as manslaughter, is now being investigated as murder after police determined the violence was premeditated and “brutal and cruel,” Yle reports.
The South Ostrobothnia police department, in consultation with prosecutors, upgraded the charges following new evidence in the case. A 35-year-old man, arrested shortly after the incident on Sunday, will be presented for pretrial detention at South Ostrobothnia District Court on Thursday.
Authorities were alerted to the scene late Sunday evening, where they found one man severely injured in the apartment building’s courtyard and another dead inside an apartment. The victim was later declared deceased.
