Faroese hospital funding cuts waiting lists by nearly 1,000 patients

A 1.116 million krona grant to the Faroese Hospital Service last year reduced waiting lists by 966 patients, public broadcaster KVF reported Wednesday.

The largest reduction came in urology consultations at the National Hospital in Tórshavn, where 255,000 krona eliminated 157 patients from the waiting list. Another 50,000 krona funded telephone urology consultations at Klaksvík Hospital, cutting its waiting list by 115 patients.

At the National Hospital’s eye department, the waiting list dropped by 147 patients, while the cardiology outpatient waiting list at the medical department fell by 122 patients.
