Danish international goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has ended his professional career, state broadcaster DR reported Wednesday.

The 39-year-old, who earned 120 caps for Denmark’s national team, confirmed his decision in an interview with DR Sporten. His final club appearance came with Belgian side Anderlecht in May 2024 before a brief stint as a free agent.

Schmeichel’s career included spells at Manchester City, Leeds United, Leicester City—where he won the 2015–16 Premier League title—and Nice. He also represented Denmark at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and three UEFA European Championships.

His father, Peter Schmeichel, was also a goalkeeper for Denmark and Manchester United.
