Unemployment in Finland climbed in every age group last month, with 333,200 jobseekers registered as unemployed at the end of April—a 6% increase from the same period last year, according to the Finnish Centre for Employment and Development (KEHA).

The number of new job vacancies listed on the Employment Service portal fell to 37,000 in April, down 5,700 from the previous year. Overall, 67,100 positions remained open, roughly 20% fewer than in April 2025.

Long-term unemployment also worsened, with 139,200 people out of work for at least one continuous year—nearly 20% more than a year earlier. Those unemployed for over two years reached 72,500, a 25% rise from April 2025.

Among young jobseekers under 25, unemployment grew by 5,000 to 41,000. For those over 55, the figure rose by 3,800 to 84,500.
