Mask wearing optional at Landspítali University Hospital in Iceland

Monday 29th July 2024 on 13:48 in Iceland Iceland

Mask wearing is now optional at Landspítali University Hospital, while other infection control measures, such as visitor restrictions and hand hygiene protocols, will remain in effect. This change was confirmed by Andri Ólafsson, the hospital’s communications director.

The decision to make mask use optional follows weeks of strict measures implemented in mid-July after COVID-19 cases were detected in eight departments of the hospital, spreading rapidly among staff and patients. The situation will be reassessed in one week.
