A Danish restaurant owner has turned a personal struggle with his daughters’ morning hair routines into a sold-out event where fathers learn to braid over beer and snacks, DR reports.
Nikolaj Bek, chef and director of Mundtgodt in Grenaa, organized “Beer and Braiding” after admitting his own attempts at styling his daughters’ hair often ended in frustration—with his children running to their mother for help. “I could tell my wife and daughters thought the hairstyles I sent them off with were a bit dull,” he said.
The event, held Tuesday evening, pairs mannequin heads with tutorials from a local hairdresser, offering fathers hands-on practice without the pressure of a squirming child. Billets sold out in 20 minutes, with a long waitlist forming—a sign, Bek noted, that many fathers share his struggle.
Beyond braiding, the night focuses on camaraderie and “taking responsibility for the small things that matter.” Bek hopes the skills—and confidence—gained will earn him a new role: morning hair hero. “I’d love for my daughters to choose me when it’s time to do their hair,” he said.
