Finnish technology group Wärtsilä will expand its technical production capacity in Vaasa by 30 percent with a €90 million investment, public broadcaster Yle reports.

The expansion at the Vaskiluoto technology center follows a February 2026 announcement of a 35 percent capacity increase, bringing total growth to 65 percent compared to 2025 levels. The latest phase is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2029, while the earlier expansion remains on track for early 2028.

The company stated the investment will boost engine deliveries to meet rising demand in energy and marine markets, supporting long-term business growth and customer needs.

“This is an important step toward carbon-neutral shipping and energy sectors,” said Wärtsilä president and CEO Håkan Agnevall in a company release.
