Denmark’s King Frederik joins 112,000 runners in annual Royal Run

King Frederik X of Denmark and more than 112,000 participants took part in this year’s Royal Run, an annual mass participation event held across five cities, Danish broadcaster DR reported Monday.

The event, now in its seventh year, saw races in Copenhagen-Frederiksberg, Ringkøbing, Randers, Middelfart, and Helsingør. Runners and walkers could choose between three distances: one mile (1.6 km), 5 km, or 10 km.

The king began the day in Randers, where he was joined by other members of the royal family. Organisers described the turnout as a record for the event, which combines public fitness with royal tradition.
