Man arrested after 18 tonnes of salmon and two trailers stolen
A man in his 60s was detained Sunday after police linked him to the theft of 18 tonnes of salmon from a fish farm in Eidsvoll and two stolen semi-trailers from Skarnes, Dagbladet reports.
Police found the suspect asleep in the cab of a truck connected to one of the stolen trailers at a Circle K service station in Vestby. The trailer, fitted with false licence plates, contained some of the stolen salmon, which investigators traced back to the earlier theft at 1814 Salmon in Akershus.
The man, described as being from Eastern Europe, was taken into custody for questioning. Authorities have notified the owners of both the fish and the trailers.
The thefts were reported within hours of each other on Sunday. The salmon was taken from Eidsvoll at 08:30, while the trailers had been stolen overnight from Skarnes in Innlandet.
