The speed limit on Havnarvegur, the new access road to Tórshavn, is set to increase from 60 to 70 kilometres per hour, KVF reports.
The proposal was put forward by city council member Tróndur Sigurðsson, who asked the council to raise the limit on the stretch from the roundabout at Hvítanes to Marknagil. The council approved sending the matter to the technical committee, which has endorsed the proposal.
The case will now be considered by the traffic committee, which includes representatives from Tórshavn Municipality and the police.
