A man in his 40s has been detained in Vaasa on suspicion of committing 92 property crimes over the past year, according to Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

The Ostrobothnia District Court ordered the man’s detention on Tuesday, a week after police took him into custody. During the last three months alone, police said, the man was linked to 43 open criminal cases.

Police said the suspect had developed a pattern of repeated criminal behavior and that the detention was intended to break the cycle and prevent further offences. The alleged acts were described as repetitive and systematic, showing disregard for others’ property, and were not considered minor.
