Merikarvia vicar returns after inappropriate language at confirmation camp

The vicar of Merikarvia, who used inappropriate language and alcohol at a confirmation camp two years ago, is returning to his duties, the Turku Archdiocese Chapter told STT. According to the chapter, Tom Broberg’s behaviour at the camp was deemed unprofessional and unsuitable for a priest. Broberg faced a charge of dereliction of duty, but the Satakunta District Court dismissed the charge in December. Since Broberg has not been convicted of a crime, the chapter found no grounds to prevent him from resuming his post. He is scheduled to return at the beginning of September.
