The Health School of the Faroe Islands will offer a health assistant course in Tórshavn, the capital, and introduce a more flexible model for health care worker training, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The application deadline for the new training options is 22 May. The health assistant programme is aimed at employees aged 25 or older with at least three years of work experience in the elderly care sector. The course lasts 25 weeks and starts in August.

The new health care worker training will combine distance learning with in-person instruction in Tórshavn and at the Health School in Suðuroy, allowing students to take coursework while also undergoing practical training.

Tórshavn Municipality has allocated two million Danish kroner in its 2026 budget for training health staff and says it is ready to enter into additional training agreements.
