Missing explosive identified as Russian wartime incendiary bomb

A missing explosive device found in a field near the Riihimäki ice hall has been identified as a Russian wartime incendiary bomb, Häme police said on Thursday.

Police had initially said on Wednesday that the device was likely a wartime grenade. After further investigation, it was confirmed to be an incendiary bomb. The device remains missing, and police have continued an active search.

The incendiary bomb may be in the possession of a member of the public. Police urged anyone who has taken the device or sees it to call emergency number 112 immediately, warning that handling the explosive is life-threatening.
