Rescue efforts are underway for a hiker who was injured in the Kerlingarfjöll mountain range. A helicopter from the Icelandic Coast Guard is being deployed to reach the man, who suffered burns on his foot after stepping into a hot spring. It is currently unclear how severe his injuries are.
The Icelandic Coast Guard’s operational unit has confirmed the situation, emphasizing the challenging conditions due to poor visibility in the area. Rescue teams and park rangers are assisting with the operation, as the helicopter cannot land near the hiker, complicating the rescue efforts.
The helicopter took off at 1:30 PM to retrieve the injured hiker.
