Most minors find obtaining alcohol easy, survey finds
A vast majority of young people in Finland consider it easy to obtain alcohol while underage, according to a survey commissioned by the substance abuse prevention organization Ehyt ry.
Over 70 percent of respondents said obtaining alcohol as a minor was either very easy or fairly easy, the survey by research firm Taloustutkimus found. Nearly 80 percent reported receiving alcohol from a friend or acquaintance, while one third obtained it via a sibling or parent.
Eighty-five percent of respondents estimated that alcohol use was common among their own age group. Close to 2,000 young people aged 15 to 29 took part in the online survey.
