Warning of severe thunderstorm – thunder may rumble across almost the entire country today
There’s a potential for powerful thunderstorm gusts across nearly the entire country today. The Meteorological Institute has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms for almost all regions, excluding the northernmost areas of Finland and portions of the coastal provinces. Warnings have also been issued for the eastern Gulf of Finland and Lake Saimaa.
The possible thunderstorm gusts and showers are expected to develop in the afternoon. The thunderstorm gusts are sporadic, and localized rain showers are forecast for nearly the entire country. Some isolated showers could be quite heavy.
The rainy weather is expected to clear up towards Tuesday evening. Central and Northern Lapland, as well as the coastal areas of Southwest and Southern Finland, are expected to remain dry and have not been issued thunderstorm warnings.
Temperatures across most of the country will hover between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. In the Arm of Finland, temperatures will remain slightly above 10 degrees.
