The future of Skaginn 3X remains uncertain, according to Haraldur Benediktsson, the mayor of Akranes. Hopes are still alive for the company’s revival in the town, but no updates have emerged regarding negotiations for a bid made on Skaginn 3X in mid-July. The bid included the entire asset, but it has been over three weeks since the company requested bankruptcy proceedings on July 4.
Two other offers are being evaluated for individual assets of the company; however, the primary goal remains to sell the entire estate and restart operations in Akranes. The property housing the company is owned by another entity, complicating agreements related to purchase and sale.
Haraldur noted that little is known about the progress of negotiations, and many specialized employees are likely seeking other opportunities as time passes.
