Partner of Danish independent MP charged with drug possession
The partner of independent Danish MP Cecilie Liv Hansen has been charged with possession of narcotics, according to an indictment obtained by news agency Ritzau through a freedom of information request.
The charges relate to possession of 121.05 grams of hash, 46.66 grams of skunk, 15 bags of cannabis gummy candies and 4.63 grams of psychedelic mushrooms in Kolding in December last year. Additionally, he is charged with possessing 5,365.50 Danish kroner that prosecutors say stemmed from hash sales.
The man’s lawyer has declined to comment and has not stated how his client will plead. The case is scheduled for hearing at the Court in Kolding on 8 June, with one hour set aside for proceedings.
Cecilie Liv Hansen was elected to parliament for the Liberal Alliance party in the March general election but was expelled just four days later over accusations she had lied about her partner selling drugs. She has since continued as an independent MP. She was also elected to the Regional Council of Southern Denmark and the Kolding City Council.
