Man charged with assault in Argir remains in custody through Ólavsøka

The man charged with the assault at Sandá will spend the national holiday of Ólavsøka in custody.

The East Fjords Court has upheld a ruling from the Faroe Islands Court, confirming that the man will remain in custody for an additional four weeks.

He was apprehended for assaulting a woman on the street at Sandá in Argir and on Tuesday, the Faroese court extended his detention for the four weeks requested by the police. However, the man appealed the decision to the East Fjords Court, which has now confirmed the extension.

The individual is accused of attacking a woman on the street near Sandá, east of the football field in Argir, on the evening of April 28. He denies the charges against him.

The man has been in custody since April 28.
