Man charged with assault to remain in custody during Ólavsøku festival in Argir

The man charged with an assault at Sandá will spend the Ólavsøku festival in custody.
The Eastern High Court has upheld a ruling by the Faroese Court, confirming that the man will remain in detention for an additional four weeks.
He was apprehended for an assault on a woman on the street at Sandá in Argir. On Tuesday, the Faroese Court extended his custody as requested by the police. However, the man appealed the decision to the Eastern High Court, which has now reaffirmed the extension.
The individual is accused of attacking a woman on the street near Sandá, located east of the football field in Argir, on the evening of April 28. He maintains his innocence regarding the charges.
The man has been in custody since April 28.
