The Pirkanmaa District Court is set to deliver its verdict today in a case stemming from a fatal e-scooter crash in Pirkkala, according to STT.

The accident occurred last July when two girls riding the same electric scooter collided with a car at a pedestrian crossing. One of the girls, aged 15, later died in hospital from her injuries. The other was injured. The girl who died had been steering the scooter at the time of the collision.

The driver of the car faces charges including negligent homicide and negligent infliction of bodily harm. The driver has denied the charges, stating that the situation arose so suddenly that there was no time to brake before the collision.
