Teen critically injured after falling from moving graduation party bus on E6 highway
A young man was found critically injured on the E6 highway near Stange early Saturday morning, with police investigating whether he fell from the roof of a moving russebuss—a bus used in Norwegian high school graduation celebrations, reports Dagbladet.
The man, described as a russ (Norwegian graduate celebrant), was discovered with life-threatening injuries on the roadway between Innlandsporten and Skaberud, close to Espa. He was first taken to Hamar Hospital before being airlifted to Oslo for emergency treatment. His current condition remains undisclosed.
Police have strengthened their theory that the victim fell from the bus while it was in motion, though the investigation remains ongoing. “This is the most probable sequence of events at present, but we have not yet reached a conclusion,” Julie Dalsveen, a police prosecutor in the Innlandet district, told Dagbladet.
The bus driver has been questioned and formally charged under Section 3 of Norway’s Road Traffic Act—the “negligence clause”—following a vehicle inspection by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Around 20 people were on board at the time of the incident.
Ringsaker Upper Secondary School, where the injured man was formerly a student, has activated its crisis response team. “We will provide follow-up support for our students involved in the russefeiring [graduation celebrations] and focus on assisting those affected by this event,” rector Hildegard Johannessen told Hamar Arbeiderblad.
Police continue to seek witnesses, particularly a foreign truck driver who arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and may hold relevant information. Authorities urge anyone with photos, videos, or details to come forward.
