Faroese chess player Høgni Djurhuus wins weekly tournament
The Faroese Chess Federation has announced that Høgni Djurhuus secured victory in this week’s online chess tournament, according to a report by Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
Djurhuus outperformed competitors in the latest round of the federation’s weekly event, which is broadcast live on the broadcaster’s platform. The tournament, known locally as Vikan á skák (“Week in Chess”), saw strong participation but ultimately did not meet all expectations, as noted by commentator Ingi Rasmussen.
Rasmussen’s remark, “Bukkamið rapar. Ikki hildið viðlíka” (“The belly rumbles. It didn’t quite hold up”), suggested that while the event drew interest, some aspects fell short of the usual standard.
A recording of the tournament is available on the Kringvarp Føroya website.
