Man in his 20s now charged with 13 counts of assault and threatening behaviour
A man in his 20s, previously charged with eight counts of violence and assault against women in the Oslo area, now faces an expanded indictment covering 13 incidents of assault, violence, and threatening behaviour, reports Dagbladet.
Police have broadened the charges to include an April 9 incident in which a woman in her 50s was threatened in a wooded area near Rykkinn in Bærum. Additional charges cover two counts of violence and intimidation in Lørenskog on April 15, as well as two offences committed while in custody.
The suspect, who has been in pre-trial detention for four weeks, has not admitted guilt in any of the cases. Prosecutors will request a four-week extension of his detention at a court hearing on Monday, according to police prosecutor Erlend Enqvist-Jensen.
Two forensic psychiatrists have been appointed to assess the accused’s mental state. The victims in the 13 cases range in age from 26 to 93. Several reports were submitted via police tip lines, and authorities continue to encourage the public to share information about similar incidents via tips.politiet.no.
Police have prioritised the investigation, with further examination of evidence in the newest cases underway. The accused has not yet provided an explanation for the alleged offences.
