Faroe Islands to review disability pension system and simplify building permits
The Faroese government will review the disability pension system and introduce new legislation to streamline building permit processes, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The decision follows a meeting between government officials and the Association of Faroese Municipalities. A working group, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the municipal association, will propose changes to disability pension payments. The aim is to present recommendations before the autumn parliamentary session.
Additionally, new legislation will be drafted to make building permit procedures “easier, simpler, and faster,” with plans to submit the bill to parliament in the autumn.
Municipalities have previously criticised the current funding model for elderly care, arguing they receive insufficient support from the national budget.
