Police in Oulu are searching for a cyclist suspected of striking a foreign woman in the Välkkylä district last Saturday, Yle reports. Authorities are examining whether the incident is linked to a stabbing in the same area in April.

A young man riding a bicycle allegedly hit or pushed a young woman with a foreign background in the shoulder from behind near the Kajaanintie underpass around 10:20 PM on Saturday. The woman was not injured in the attack but reported that the man dropped a kitchen knife with a yellow handle at the scene. Police arriving at the location did not find the weapon.

Investigators are treating the case as an attempted aggravated assault and have called for witnesses to come forward. The suspect is described as a young man, though further details remain unclear.

The incident occurred near the site of an April 14 stabbing, where another cyclist attacked a foreign man with a knife in a nearby park. Police are assessing a possible connection between the two cases but currently lack sufficient evidence.

A 30-year-old man was previously suspected in the April stabbing, but prosecutors rejected a request for his detention due to insufficient evidence.
