Meteorologists describe the outlook for Norway’s 17 May Constitution Day celebrations as an “indeterminate weather situation,” where minor shifts could bring unexpected changes, Dagbladet reports.

With the national holiday approaching, forecasts suggest no dominant high or low-pressure systems will shape the weather. Instead, the country sits in a transitional zone between cool and warm air masses, according to state meteorologist Magnus Ovhed.

“We’re in a period without strong high or low pressure, making it quite unpredictable—difficult to pinpoint where showers might occur,” Ovhed said.

Current projections indicate much of Norway may experience relatively dry conditions on 17 May, though scattered showers remain possible. Temperatures are expected to hover around seasonal averages, with potential highs near 15°C (59°F). Northern regions could see slightly warmer-than-normal weather, while southern areas might be marginally cooler.

However, meteorologists stress that small shifts in weather systems could still alter local conditions. “Nothing is set in stone,” Ovhed noted, adding that the boundary between warm air over Russia and Finland and cooler air elsewhere makes precise forecasting challenging.

Earlier updates from meteorologist Iris Hestnes suggested calm winds and limited precipitation, a pattern that largely holds—but with lingering uncertainty over where and when any rain might fall.
