The Danish football championship celebrations in Aarhus resulted in just one arrest and few incidents, according to Østjyllands Police, as thousands of AGF supporters gathered in the city centre on Sunday.

Police inspector Brian Voss Olsen described the atmosphere as “very positive,” with tens of thousands of fans filling the streets throughout the day, culminating in evening and nighttime festivities. By early Monday morning, he noted that officers could “breathe a sigh of relief” as cleanup crews began clearing the area.

Busgaden, a central street where fans have previously climbed onto buses in celebration, was preemptively closed by authorities. Police coordinated with Østjyllands Fire Department to block the road with emergency vehicles and worked with Midttrafik, the local transport agency, to suspend bus services, allowing fans to celebrate without disruption.

“We have a close and very good collaboration with the fire department,” Voss Olsen said. “We placed some of their vehicles across Busgaden, and with Midttrafik’s cooperation, buses were halted, so people could party in the street without causing problems.”

Overall, police praised the crowd’s behaviour. “We want to commend everyone involved. There were strong emotions, but people conducted themselves exemplarily,” Voss Olsen added. The street was reopened by Monday morning.
