The arrival of cruise ships provides a substantial boost to Vestmanna’s municipal budget and local tourism industry, according to Mayor Sára Jógvansdóttir, as the first vessel of the season docked on Sunday.

The luxury expedition ship Silver Endeavour, carrying 200 passengers and a crew of 209, arrived in the Faroese port as scheduled. Vestmanna Harbour regularly hosts cruise ships of similar size, typically accommodating between 200 and 300 passengers.

This year, 12 cruise ships are expected in Vestmanna over the summer—an increase from eight in 2025 and just two in 2024. The Silver Endeavour is set to depart later in the evening.

Vestmanna, located in the Faroe Islands, has seen growing interest from cruise operators in recent years, with 2026 marking the highest number of scheduled visits to date.
