A landmark Picasso exhibition—described as the largest and most valuable in the Nordic region in 40 years—opens today at Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg, Denmark, reports national broadcaster DR.

The exhibition was made possible in part by Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the artist’s grandson, who has loaned several paintings from his private collection. Ruiz-Picasso attended the opening, where he viewed his grandfather’s works on public display.

The event marks a rare opportunity to see a significant number of Picasso’s original works gathered in Scandinavia, with the borrowed pieces contributing to the exhibition’s record-scale value.
