Laugarneskirkja, a church in Reykjavik, was recently the target of a burglary, during which donation boxes intended for the church’s charitable activities were stolen. The church’s organist, Elísabet Þórðardóttir, reported damage to door frames and noted that the offices had been ransacked. However, no significant valuables, such as computers or other equipment, were taken.
Elísabet expressed skepticism about the monetary value of the stolen donations, suggesting that little money was likely present in the boxes. Apart from the broken doors, no additional significant damage was reported. Although the scene was disturbed, with items scattered in the offices that were accessed, the overall loss appears minimal.
The incident has been reported to the police, who are currently conducting an investigation into the burglary.
