High fire risk across most of Sweden
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued warnings of elevated fire risk in nearly all regions of Sweden, urging caution in forests and open land.
Northern Sweden faces a high to very high risk of grass fires on Friday, with dry grass from last year particularly vulnerable to ignition, according to SMHI. In southern Sweden, the primary concern is forest fires, with authorities advising extreme care when handling open flames and checking local fire bans.
The warning follows dry conditions that have increased the likelihood of fires spreading rapidly.
