Swedish public broadcaster SVT is hosting a live question-and-answer session where Sweden Democrats (SD) leader Jimmie Åkesson will respond to unrestricted public questions from his private office, the broadcaster announced Monday.

The session is part of Fråga partiledaren allt (Ask the Party Leader Anything), a four-week interview series hosted by SVT’s Fouad Youcefi ahead of the 2026 election. Åkesson is the first party leader to participate, with the live broadcast available on SVT Play, the Duo app, and social media platforms.

Viewers submitted questions in advance via an online chat, covering topics such as Åkesson’s stance on international figures like Donald Trump, his definition of “Swedishness,” his position on parental leave policies, and his views on Sweden’s currency. Other inquiries included his education background and whether he would participate in a Pride parade.

The live session began at 20:00 local time, with SVT moderators noting that while all questions were permitted, chat rules applied to audience comments. Åkesson and Youcefi aimed to address as many submissions as possible during the 30-minute program.

The series will continue in the coming weeks with other Swedish party leaders facing similar public Q&As ahead of the election.
