Person arrested in Swedish Security Service operation
A person has been detained following an operation by Sweden’s Security Service (Säpo), Swedish public broadcaster SVT Nyheter reports.
Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the suspected offences. Johan Wikström, Säpo’s press spokesperson, confirmed the arrest but declined to provide further details.
“This is an early stage in the investigation,” Wikström said. “To avoid compromising the preliminary inquiry, we must remain restrictive with information.”
The case is being handled by Stockholm District Court. Säpo is leading the investigation in cooperation with prosecutors from the National Security Unit. The detained individual’s lawyer, Anton Strand, and prosecutor Carl Mellberg have also declined to comment.
The Security Service (Säpo) is Sweden’s national agency responsible for counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and protection against serious threats to national security.
