Faroese whale distribution shifts to home shares after last year’s Sandavágur hunt

The distribution of meat and blubber from last year’s pilot whale hunt in Sandavágur, which yielded 125 whales and 809 shares, has been adjusted to prioritise home shares, Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Of the total, 140 shares will now be allocated as home shares, while the remaining working and killing shares will receive one share each, according to local media jn.fo.

The distribution in Miðvágur will begin at 8:45 AM on the harbour pier, with Vága Municipality urging residents to participate in the division. The home share consists of half a traditional share.

In Sørvágur, residents are asked to arrive at the sports field parking area between 8:00 AM and 12:45 PM to collect their portions.
