Finnish broadcaster Yle is inviting readers to share their memories of the night 20 years ago when hard rock band Lordi secured Finland’s first—and so far only—Eurovision Song Contest victory with Hard Rock Hallelujah.

The 2006 win sparked nationwide celebrations, including a public gathering in Helsinki’s Market Square attended by an estimated 90,000 people. In the band’s hometown of Rovaniemi, a square was renamed in Lordi’s honour, with the members’ handprints immortalised on a pillar.

Yle plans to compile readers’ stories into a feature marking the 20th anniversary of the historic moment. The Eurovision final this year will take place on 16 May in Vienna, with Finland performing in the first semi-final on 12 May.
