Driver crashes into pillar in Helsinki, tram lines down
A car crashed into a pillar along Hermannin rantatie in Helsinki on Sunday, causing tram overhead lines to collapse and closing the road indefinitely, Finnish broadcaster Yle reports.
The accident occurred near the Redi shopping centre in the Kalasatama district. Helsinki police confirmed they received the emergency call shortly after 5 PM local time. Both police and rescue services are on site investigating the incident.
Tram services in the area are disrupted due to the fallen power lines. Authorities have not yet provided details on potential injuries or the cause of the crash.
This is a developing story.
