Five-kilometre traffic jam after collision in Holmestrand tunnel
A traffic accident in the Hillestad tunnel on the E18 motorway in Holmestrand has caused a five-kilometre queue, with drivers facing delays of up to 30 minutes, reports Norwegian news outlet Dagbladet.
The collision occurred on Sunday afternoon during the return travel following a long weekend, according to police. Operations manager Eskil Hagen Olsen of the South-Eastern Police District confirmed the incident in the police log, stating: “There is heavy congestion at the site. Drivers are advised to find alternative routes on their own.”
Marita Bakkebø of the Southern Road Traffic Centre told Dagbladet that the queue extends to the middle of the Bringåker tunnel, with only one lane open for passing the accident site. Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance, are present at the location.
