Man rescued from river in Turku after falling between steamship and dock
A person was rescued from the Aura River in Turku early Saturday morning after falling into the water between a dock and the historic steamship s/s Ukkopekka, reports Finnish public broadcaster Yle, citing the Southwest Finland Emergency Services.
Emergency responders received an alert shortly after 1:30 AM that a person was in the water near the Vaakahuone area. According to authorities, a passerby heard calls for help and, along with two others, threw a life ring into the river, which helped the man stay afloat.
The victim, confirmed to be a man, was pulled from the water by emergency crews and transported to hospital with minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
