Local fishermen remove abandoned fishing gear from Limfjorden
Fishermen have helped the Limfjorden Council clear abandoned fishing equipment from the Danish fjord, state broadcaster DR reports.
The operation targeted so-called “ghost nets”—discarded or lost fishing gear that can continue to trap and kill marine life for years. According to the report, the fjord has now been fully cleared of such debris.
The effort was a collaboration between local fishermen and the Limfjorden Council, an advisory body for the region’s coastal management.
