Finnish police reported that May Day (Vappu) celebrations proceeded mostly peacefully, though officers responded to incidents involving intoxication, traffic violations, and violent behaviour.

In southwestern Finland, police handled 294 cases—similar to last year—including public disturbances, domestic disputes, and a standoff at a private residence that was resolved through negotiation, according to a police statement.

In Oulu, northern Finland, authorities described the holiday as calm despite large crowds. Police praised students for responsible behaviour but noted some cases of excessive drinking, assaults, and suspected drunk driving.

The report may be updated as further details emerge.
